In my class of 21 students, I find it beneficial to pull small groups of 4 or 5 students at a time to work with so I can differentiate my learning toward each specific group. As I'm working with that small group of students, the other 16 students are working on independent work or collaborating with a partner completing their assignments. Flexible seating allows the students to spread out around the room instead of sitting in hard seats and desks for about 90 minutes. Every 15 to 20 minutes, I pull a new group to work with and students are able to change their spot.
