A major step to increasing students' literacy skills is having them LOVE reading! I have selected a range of intriguing book series from nonfiction Who Was...? books to graphic novel series Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Independent reading and language arts is an important block of our school day in which students practice and engage in increasing their reading stamina and fluency. These high-interest books will have them excited about that part of the day! Books can provide a mirror or window for the reader. A mirror- which are stories that reflect and connect the students own identity. And a window- which are stories that offer different perspectives and new experiences for students to enjoy. These books will provide my students with the wonders of reading that will last them a lifetime!
