The items I have requested already have a planned purpose in our classroom! I want to revamp our dramatic play area and go beyond the home living area to add more opportunities to explore and learn. Each month I like to change our dramatic play area into different experiences. With the requested materials we can easily turn the dramatic play area into a dinner, a grocery store, a pizza parlor, a bakery, a salon, a post office, a flower shop... the possibilities are endless! Through dramatic play in our classroom students will be developing and practicing social interaction, practicing and learning language and communication skills, expanding vocabulary, and so much more all through play! COVID-19 has limited my students exposure to social situations and I want to help them learn and grow through pretend play. My students are excited to visit the dramatic play area daily and with these new materials they will have the opportunity to expand their skill base.
