I remember reading Scholastic magazine and Time magazine as a young adult. And, I remember the impact some of the stories left on me. Too many students today DON'T read... But, if they do, it's FICTION, and they walk away not really learning very much. My goal this year is to REALLY grow my students BEYOND what my school district is giving them to read... FICTION. I want to have REAL LIFE conversations with students about REAL LIFE events that are happening in our world today! Having TIME for KIDS, Dyna Math and Scholastic will create meaningful conversations in my classroom, and will cause a LOT of thinking and conversations at home!
