Choice. What better way of attracting a student to become engaged in something that we must teach to them? Centers full of interesting, challenging and fun activities that greatly enhance the instruction they received in class will take my students to a level of knowledge they not only work for but deserve. Students will have the opportunity to choose independent centers as well as participate in small group and whole group activities. By giving my students CHOICE in center activities that interest them they will be more engaged all while enhancing their learning of concepts throughout the year. I have seen the level of engagement my students have already shown when given the chance to make a decision of how they can learn a concept while working cooperatively and independently in centers. They have very little disruptive behaviors that could easily interfere with other students’ learning. These materials would greatly add to the engagement to move students to that goal of a great learning experience.
