The refocus room should be a safe and therapeutic place for students. The room should incorporate play therapy and social/emotional learning with sensory items. Students can utilize these items and coping skills to calm down and prepare them to learn and become leaders. Since my school is made up of a diverse population, a variety of resources are needed to meet all levels of needs. I am asking for a rug, Big Joe Bean Bag chairs and a weighted blanket so that students can destress and de-escalate in moments of crisis. With the use of Power Thought cards, students can self monitor to be aware that more mindfulness is needed in their thoughts and actions.
