At an alternative site, we start each school year with a small number of students and then rapidly, our numbers increase as students' behaviors are on the rise at their home schools. We don't get as much funding as other schools as a result of enrollment numbers at the beginning of the school year. This allows us to only provide the basics such as folders, pencils and markers for our students. Our building is the oldest building in the city of Tulsa still being utilized as a school. As a single teacher, I am unable to purchase these items that are found at most home schools. The therapeutic items such as the manipulatives and the bands for the chairs are strategic to helping the students who suffer with ADD and ADHD focus on their learning.
