Hello! I am a K-2 Autism Self-Contained Classroom teacher. The students who I work with love animals and hands-on activities. Having a classroom pet is a great way to help my students learn skills such as direction following, vocational skills, language skills, and social emotional growth. Mikky, the bearded dragon, is three years old. She is gentle and loves to interact with humans. She looks forward to the time where students work with her either by feeding and cleaning her cage or letting her explore her pet pen (a small fenced-in area out of her cage). Over the years, I have documented the growth that my students have made based on Mikky’s presence in my classroom. Mikky has grown significantly and I would be grateful to anyone who would help to donate towards a new habitat for Mikky. The new habitat has doors that will open in the front to ensure students can reach all areas of the cage when caring for her. This habitat will last Mikky through her lifespan and create a happy, healthy environment!
