Currently, we do not have a rug for our classroom library, giving the impression reading is not valued or warm and welcoming. Students sit at their desks to have a place to read. Having the classroom rug will provide space for the students to sit and buddy read, independently, in a warm and welcoming library to encourage literacy. It will also provide more choice to the students on where they would like to read more comfortably around the classroom. Our classroom library has many different topics and genres to read about. Fantasy, songs and poems, transportation, things we wonder about, and so much more. Donating a rug for our library would allow a space for our students to converse with one another about these books they are reading.
