In first grade, hands on ways to use letters such as magnets, stamps, as well as visual lessons through a big book on an easel make material accessible for all types of students. The tools requested will be used for years to come to help my first graders find what works for them to grasp the language and become avid readers! Simple, effective tools such as letter magnets and stamps make it possible to reach every student in my classroom and inspire a love of learning! The easel helps students easily see the big book as oppose to me trying to hold it while reading and turning pages. The book bags and book stand allow students to keep track of their leveled books without mixing them up so they can be prepared for independent reading. The magnetic and stamps letters will be used for small reading groups to teach students strategies for decoding, spelling, and figuring out tricky new vocabulary. The privacy shields will allow me to assess students accurately and effectively in order to inform my future lessons appropriately.
