The materials in this project will be used to enrich my students reading experiences. "Chains" is a great historical fiction book, based during the American Revolution. This story is told from the viewpoint of a young black slave girl. This is a powerful book about what slaves went through and how our county came into existence. I have read this book with other students and it is a powerful message for everyone to hear. My students were moved with compassion and given a new perspective. The composition notebooks will be used along with the book. Throughout our reading we will be spending time, adding vocabulary, plot summaries, inferences, personal reflections and much more from and about this book. This book and activity will help all my students see how each of us are different and how we all have our own story. This book helps each student to look inside themselves and see how they treat others and also shows them that they can accomplish anything they put their mind to.
