My classroom of 30+ kindergartners will be focusing our literacy units around the Magic Tree House series! We use a curriculum called Tools of the Mind, and it heavily encourages learning through play, social interaction and dramatization. Students learn self-regulation, communication and social skills, as well as literacy skills of writing and reading through imaginative play, dress up and props! We will travel the world and beyond in our classroom together! Each book guides our theme...medieval knights, pirates, space exploration, African savannah, artic tundra, just to name a few! I would love to create a MAGIC space for them to be excited to come to every day and fully invest in their own learning!
