Our school is a public school located in South Central Los Angeles. The students in my class are receiving special education services. The program title is Emotional Disturbance. Most of the students have poor impulse control and extremely poor peer relations. There are currently 7 students in the class with a max of 10. My students tend to do well with technology and hands on activities. For this reason the computer component of our reading program, really interests them and gets them excited about reading. Even with the label of emotionally disturbed, the students are genuinely great kids and just need the tools to channel their feelings and learn how to express themselves. Most of them have severe ADHD and working on computers and with their hands often keeps their attention focused on what they are working on.
