Asking for a bunch of bare hard drives may seem like a silly thing to do. What can someone do with a bunch of drives? Well, computer repair and hard drives are at the heart of what we do. I have gathered a lot of functional, older computer equipment for my students to learn computer repair on, but the drives are slow and it can often take multiple class periods to install operating systems and programs. Furthermore, much of the hard drives that the hardware has is failing and the students are losing data and time. These drives will be directly used by students to improve their ability to complete STEM projects. By adding in a solid state hard drive to older hardware, it can improve speeds up to 50% or more. I'm asking for this so when my students learn to fix a computer, they can fully complete a lab within a class period. Multiple classes will be using the same drives for different labs and some will be used with virtual machines the kids will work on to practice for their CTE exams. I plan to use these drives for multiple school years for the students to practice with.
