In sixth grade we get to learn about places all over the world from the beginning of man to our present day. We also study the universe, ecosystems, and energy and matter. With such a wide variety of subjects, sixth grade is fun but can also be overwhelming. To help students better understand the subjects we are studying and how they are important in their lives, we try and do as many field trips and hands-on activities that we can afford. Unfortunately the funds are never enough. We have started to use the world wide web and advancements in technology to get our students to places around the world and have experiences that will make learning come alive. One example of this has been the opportunity to visit the museum in Egypt to explore their discoveries through Skype. This was so exciting and academically beneficial to the students that we wanted to expand our learning opportunities even further. With Oculus Go Virtual Reality Headsets we will be able to give students the opportunity to try their skills in interactive work environments This would greatly add to their understanding of application. We would also use the virtual reality headsets to let students do scientific experiments that might be too expensive, too dangerous, or too remote for them to do otherwise. For example: testing the soil of a rain forest for composition. Another way we would use virtual reality headsets is to take students back in time so that they could really see what it was like in ancient Egypt or Mesopotamia. Having real-life (virtual realty) experiences would help learning come to life.
