Circles are all about building community and relationships. Circles can be an amazing tool to help our students reach their best self mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally if they are done with fidelity. Circles help our students feel safe, secure and valued as individuals. Circles give all of our students a voice so that they can be heard. This carpet would encourage a defined space where my students could sit, learn and share during our circles. Teaching in Africa last summer validated to me the importance of relationship building and global education. I have incorporated a world travel theme into my classroom this year. We will be the "Newhouse Navigators". It is my goal to use this Around the World carpet as a way to build relationships during classroom meetings as well as to teach my students about cultures around the world. I will place this carpet in the center of our classroom so that my students can see that our meetings and relationship building are central to our learning.
