In our functional and life skills program, my students will learn how to take care of their growing bodies. They will learn basic self-care skills such as washing hands, brushing teeth, combing hair, having a clean face, and making sure their underarms are clean. With the help of video self motoring, students will learning the steps of each of these skills by seeing themselves do the tasks in a video lesson. This project will be very self-empowering for my students. My students come from diverse backgrounds. They all have moderate to severe special needs. My students do not necessarily have access to such basic personal hygiene products outside of school. Many of the students come from low income families and some do struggle with getting their basic needs met. All of the students that I work with are working on personal goals such as social skills and emotional regulation development. Thank you!
