My students will have an immersed experience in learning through literary sources in an Advanced Placement science class by being provided with these books as a resource. Instead of just reading through the textbook they will be able to identify multiple different themes, ideas, and scientific topics while reading through The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Many of my students come from low income homes, so asking them to spend $10 to purchase additional materials for a class that will require a lot from them is not something that I want to have to do. By being provided with these books my students will have many doors opened to them that will lead them on a learning journey that may be immortal in itself!
