In a music setting, regardless of whether or it's in the classroom or on a stage in Carnegie Hall...acoustics are everything. My classroom is all tile flooring. So as can be imagined, the sound is incredibly amplified. This rug will serve as an aid in absorbing the sound in the room as the young musicians sing, dance and play instruments. It also gives them a comfortable spot to sit on the floor while being actively engaged in the lesson. Though chairs are an option for sitting they just add to the noise levels, furthering the need for a rug. The specific rug has a musical motif featuring, instruments and symbols commonly seen in the classroom.
