We have a variety of needs for students to create constructions with hands-on learning in their math classes. The class would greatly benefit from a supply of protractors and compasses for students to create and measure geometric figures. Hands-on learning is necessary for many of my students to be able to incorporate and understand the material. Though some students have protractors and compasses, others rely on the school to provide them. Without these tools, students cannot practice and understand the importance of precise construction formation. Individual dry erase boards and the Eggbert academic game will allow students a more inclusive classroom. Though part of our lessons include students going to the board, class sizes are too large to give all students an opportunity to practice and show their peers. Individual dry erase boards allow students to work with another in class and easily display their work. This helps students to be able to participate without fear and interact with one another. We are excited to use the Eggbert wireless game to organize students into teams and allow them to practice the math applications in groups while making the learning fun. The Eggbert platform has six buzzers which allow student teams to buzz in with their answers. Games such as this are a lot of fun in middle school and high school classrooms without the frustration of me, the teacher, not noticing who raised their hand first -- a frustration which happens for the students frequently, unfortunately. We are, additionally, always in need of tracing paper and extra calculators.
