Our Middle School is a STEAM Magnet. It is a Title I school (73% qualify for free lunch) and serves primarily African American and Hispanic scholars. Many of these eager scholars come in reading at least three grade levels below their assigned grade level. Consequently, we are seeking to build their reading skills so they can successfully navigate the middle school academic curriculum. In order to do so, we need books of interest to inspire our scholars to spark their desire to read. Reading will allow to access the curriculum and become more successful academically. This will in turn allow them to access more opportunities.
