I have developed a new class to offer as exploratory at our very small school. This MakerSpace class will focus on using everyday items such as straws, tape, cards, craft sticks, toilet paper rolls, newspaper and sewing bobbins. These materials will be available for the students to construct things like bridges that can span the widest gap, build the tallest building, design a pulley that can lift the most weight and many others. We have just begun and the students are eager to participate and engage. There is now a request list for students to be in this course next quarter; it seems to be something desired and needed in this school. When you come from a small school, there is not as much variety when it comes to elective classes, especially those that require real life, hands-on, think out of the box skills. This class offers that!
