This year, our school has partnered with Scholastic to provide us with 150 new books to begin creating a classroom library. We are inspiring students to become super readers and instill a love of reading by blocking out time for independent reading. This time will allow students to focus on their metacognitive skills, to help them make inferences and expand their critical thinking. Having an organized reading nook with comfortable seating will entice students to find culturally relevant books and dive into their reading. As a high school teacher, I want to prepare students to enter the next chapter of life with a love of reading!
