I want my room to be more than a classroom. I want it to be a place where students are excited to come in, and disappointed to leave. I want to create a dedicated classroom reading area, set apart from the rest of the room via non-traditional lighting (lamps, market lights, etc.). I want our classroom library to light up like a theme park, inspiring students to want to visit as often as possible, and stay as long as they can. Students will quickly learn to regard picking out a book as a treat, rather than a chore. With black lights, students will watch their highlighter writing light up in a bright neon glow, turning ordinary math lessons into a visual delight. The soft glow of an illuminated globe will add to the visual warmth, inviting students to expand their understanding of world geography. The floor lamp I've selected will aid our reduced dependency on traditional (boring) overhead lighting, aiding my quest to transform our classroom into a world of wonders! And for those learners who desire a break from the exciting visuals, the privacy screen will allow them the means to work apart from that stimulation.
