The materials I have requested will spark the literacy of my students as they learn through play! My goal is to set up a productive environment where children would develop their literacy skills without even knowing it. My students will use these materials for literacy centers, as well as during times of free choice. The emphasis of literacy centers is on letter and sound mastery which directly target Common Core Standards for Kindergarten. Providing my students a variety of engaging ways to explore concepts and practice skills, as well as giving them the opportunity to self-direct learning, strengthens meaning and increases mastery. Learning through play ensures my students will develop a love for literacy and education, which is so important at this impressionable age!
