The texts that we read in class can make or break my students' view of reading. To become lifelong readers, they must be able to find and read texts that interest them. With these magazines and subscriptions, students will have a myriad of choice in their reading. Rather than being assigned specific readings that may or may not suit their interests, students will be able to practice the skills and strategies we learn in class while reading high interest material that they choose for themselves. In short, with these materials, students will be able to direct their own learning, build confidence in reading, increase motivation, and become stronger readers all at the same time.
