For most of my students, this is their first or second year in the United States. Therefore, their social and emotional needs are vulnerable. Being new to a country is hard enough, between adapting to the new American customs, learning a new language, and having to grow up in a family that may struggle to make ends meet, can and does take a toll on my ELL students. Flexible seating will help my students feel empowered by giving them some degree of choice and control over their environment. It will also encourage them to find the best space to stay focused and productive. Finally, it will encourages them to share and collaborate quickly and easily.
