This air conditioner will make my classroom a place where my students can focus and succeed. Currently, the stifling heat gets so bad students risk heat exhaustion and dehydration. The windows open to a busy, noisy street that offers very little airflow and loud noise that makes it hard to hear inside my class. Help me make it so the challenging part of class is the critical thinking we do together! Help us beat the heat! We do a lot of critical work in my English and Ethnic Studies classes around language, race, and representation. My students are beginning to identify our poor classroom conditions as yet another example of being left behind and ignored by the public school system. Having a safe and pleasant environment is a necessary part of learning.
