These desks will help me bring hands-on science experiments to the 7th and 8th grade students at our school. Switching to these desks will ensure that I can deliver high quality science lessons in a safe and professional environment. Our current desks include a mixture of what seems to be the leftovers from all the other classrooms in our building. The desks are all different shapes and sizes and really limit my ability to have students use glassware, heat, or chemicals as the surfaces are uneven when combined. While we have one lab bench at the back of the room, it can only accommodate a handful of students at a time. For many, middle school marks their first real introduction to science. My students, like all others, deserve to work in a well furnished science lab, however, working in an underserved community means that we don't always have access to the same resources as students elsewhere. Help me bring these desks into our school and show my students that we believe that they are capable of a career in science and that they are worth it.
