This generation of students will be inheriting an array of social issues that will be impossible to overcome without interpersonal and social-emotional skill sets. In each subject, my students will explore a plethora of concepts that explicitly relate to their everyday lives and lived experiences. In order to be better equipped to shape their future, students will delve into the complexities of our past and present. I intend to motivate students to think critically about current events and how they relate to our past and our future. For instance, the student will remain socially conscious with the Scholastic News and Times Kids subscriptions. Students will find themselves situated in a safe, welcoming learning environment by noticing the posters and books at their fingertips. In addition, they will be able to maintain that focus by using their foot rests, as needed.
