We live in a beautiful era of knowledge. Educators know that learning mathematics is a sequential process, and each step in the process must be fulfilled before moving on to the next step. However, teachers are often driven to move on to keep up with a curriculum pacing guide. Too bad children don't live by that same pacing guide. Some children need more time to build a solid foundation of number sense, and the one good thing this pandemic has given us is time. I would like to use this day of distance learning to help children solidify place value and number sense, but they need manipulatives to do so.
