These items will be helpful because they will help provide an area where students will be able to go and sort out their feelings. The bean bag chairs and pillows will give the students some soft, alternative seating options around the rug. The stress balls will help them be able to squeeze out their stress while the timers will help them keep track of time. This calming station will give students the opportunity to regroup, refocus, and center themselves so they can be at their best. I believe it's important to teach kids how to be aware of their feelings and how to positively redirect those feelings when possible. The best place for students is inside the classroom. Sending students out isn't always the best choice. Setting up a calming station in an area of the classroom away from others, yet still visible to the teacher can help de-escalate certain behaviors that could possibly turn into disruptions for other students.
