Most of the students I work with are special needs with disabilities that include ADHD, autism, learning disabilities, emotional disabilities, to other mild disabilities. Most of my students live in low income housing & cannot support basic school supplies. I am a 1st year special education teacher with minimal supplies available to me in the school I work at. I am working with an emergency teaching license while I continue my graduate studies to become fully licensed. I truly believe that flexible (alternative) seating is a very beneficial thing to have in the classroom. The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of and competency in authentic, meaningful writing. My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given the choice to have alternative seating.
