I teach 24 first graders in a Title 1 school in North Carolina. Grade levels in my school range from kindergarten to fifth grade. My school has approximately 40% of the population receiving free or reduced lunch. We are a diverse school yet our small size (approximately 550) allows us to be a close knit community. Our state implemented the Common Core State Standards last year. We are constantly striving to make learning more engaging for our students. We have limited technology and budget cuts have had a real impact on our ability to purchase necessary supplies to fully support the Common Core standards.

About my class
