As a School Social Worker, my office sets the tone for the rapport I will have with my students. It is important to provide students with an environment where they feel calm, welcomed, and empowered to participate in individual and group counseling/therapy. These materials will help create an office space that connotes openness and healing. The rug and beanbag chair will build a comfy space. Games, coloring, and sensory items will be used during play therapy techniques and deescalation. Stress balls will be used for students with anxiety and as a peace offering to an upset student. The sound and lighting device will tap into all the senses which keeps a student grounded. Organizer carts and storage supplies will be used to file resources for families and store confidential documents. Lastly, wall posters will be used to inspire and motivate students!
