We always encourage our students to eat healthy. We are going to implement a unit entitled Things That Grow. During his unit healthy nutrition is our focus. I asked for Duplo Blocks that are pretend food. I teach Pre K. At this age we teach using books and manipulative toys. By gathering in a small group with the Duplo Blocks we can sort healthy and unhealthy foods into groups. We can also learn about new foods that may not have been familiar. It is the collaboration of reading a book and touching it later at a fine manipulative center. It helps bridge the gap for tactile versus visual learners.
