The wiggle cushions will help them use some of their abundant energy while they are doing their work without creating a distraction for others. We sit both on the rug and at our desks in first grade, so students can move their wiggle cushion subtly from one place to another. The pencils, erasers, and pencil sharpener directly impact their writing. They cannot write their letters, words, and eventually sentences and paragraphs without pencils. They cannot correct their mistakes without erasers. A pencil will go home with each student so that they can do their math homework, and some students don't have pencils available at home.
