I believe that students are more likely to take ownership and participate in their own learning when they are provided both routine and safe, structured choices within the classroom setting. One way to provide choice is with flexible seating such as the wobble stools and wobble seats. As educators we are always seeking ways to make connections between real life situations and structured "play" during the school day. Opportunities to team build with STEM based materials such as magna-tiles and marble runs allow for students to build social skills and problem solve. Inclusion of are and hand on projects are crucial to building creative understanding, self esteem and fine and gross motor skills. A drying rack will provide needed space and organization for student projects.
