We are focusing on increasing reading levels by creating a classroom culture where reading is engaging and exciting. As a part of our curriculum, we incorporate reading clubs where reading is encouraged through relatable material. My classroom is multicultural and I incorporate lessons and activities that promote each students beliefs with reinforcement through reading genres. My students love the movie “The Hate You Give” because it’s a reflection of the reality they face and and encourages them to make the right decision despite of constant bullying, hatred and defeat. These books will help my students create routines which they want to read.
