Scholastic News will offer my students who are all on very different reading levels the opportunity to explore real world news and hopefully draw connections between the news and their own lives. Scholastic News offers students an engaging way to be up to date on the happenings around the world—on their reading level. They then are able to “report” the news home and share their new understandings with their families. This helps bridge the gap between home and school. It will provide my students with a chance to see the world around them and for many of them this is an opportunity of a lifetime.
