The materials will help our students stay calm, regulate their sensory needs, and calm down when they are upset. The motor lab is used every day by 4 classes each day. Each class goes to the motor lab 1-2 time a day. The student go to the motor lab for 10-15 minutes. We have worked with our school Occupational Therapist to choose the best equipment to meet the students needs. The motor lab will be set up like a circuit. For example the students will begin their rotation by stretching, they will then move to the hopscotch mat and jump, nest they will go to the balance beam and walk it two times, then they will go to the trampoline and hop for 4-5 minutes, and will end the circuit doing simple meditation in the sock rest or on the beanbag. This circuit gets our students moving, helps get the wiggles and giggles out, and provides the sensory break they need to stay focused and on task.
