Being organized is an important skill that will save a lot of time and grief as a student and adult. I would know. As a student, I always put important and insignificant papers in various places. I considered it 'organized chaos' at the time but my parents and teachers vehemently disagreed. I spent hours shuffling between folders and digging through backpacks for field trip forms and homework assignments, while the adults simmered with frustration. Being a Teacher now, I cringe when students dig through their backpack, hoping to locate an important form or assignment. Too often, I've seen forms scrunched or covered with food stains. I choose to accept them because the process will repeat itself or worsen if another form is offered. Organized binders are the answer. I learned the hard way so I teach students how to organize the information. Pocket pouch with supplies on the top. Agenda planner with communication folder is next. Dividers for each content area. College ruled paper is last. Organization is so important that AVID requires that binder organization be graded. Wish I had AVID in middle school. Would have made my life easier in high school and college.
