I am an 8th grade reading teacher, have been for the past 8 years. and I love it! I teach at a low economic school and the low performance kids. I don't only teach low performance and low economic, but I teach those students that mostly come from broken homes. Every year I have the students that are in Special Education due to a learning disability, and also those who have many discipline issues due to the problems they have at home. Most of these kids have experienced many things at their young age, that I will never get to experience in my lifetime. My goal every year besides making them successful, is to love and to pray for them without limits. I take pride in decorating my classroom and making it the best learning environment that it can be for them. Students don't like reading, and this being a reading class, makes it that much more difficult. That's why I do my best to have encouraging words on walls, a variety of reading books, tables instead of desks, and always keep it clean. However, I do lack proper and comfortable seating. These kids are in my class for 2 periods back to back. That's almost 100 minutes of sitting time! Most of these chairs are broken, too small and very uncomfortable. I want seats that will help them be more focused and more comfortable as they sit and learn. I know these chairs will make a huge positive impact because I have heard so many complaints about them from former students. These students will appreciate and will in return, work to their best of their ability because they will have known that people care for them enough to provide this for them!
