Many of the students that I teach have needs other than just teaching them the subject matter that they are to learn while they are in Kindergarten. Since several of my students have experienced some kind of trama in their lives, we have to look outside of the box in order to meet their needs. Providing sensory materials, alternative seating, and creating a calm classroom using lighting, helps to support some of the needs that my students have. I will be provide a calming area where I will use the bean bag chair, fidget toys, and legos. The marble works will be used during a play time. I will have students with ADHD charistics or students who fidge in their sears with the cushions or balls to sit on. Lighting will be used to creat a calming effect. Using "Day light" helps to reduce activity, which I plan to use. Finally, my goal is to create a calm leaning environment that is welcoming to my students. I want my students to feel safe and know that they are important and loved.
