Books are necessary for learning. Although technology is extremely important in our world, young children’s imaginations are sparked first by the magic of picture books. Our district is extremely limited with funds so some books are provided but not one for each child to hold and cherish. My goal is to put a piece of authentic literature into each child’s hand. I want them to feel ownership of the story that they’re reading. These books will help them become better readers and help them understand the written word. With each child having their own book, it will also save time in our classroom so we will have time for other things that are just as important like music and art.
