Do you know that feeling of being happy in the place you are learning? Being able to take what you've learned and apply it to real life principles? Geometry, for example, is a beautiful form of math that can be found in all practicums. As, a geometry teacher, I want my students to see geometry in all fields and practice how to use it in different scenarios. I want my students to be lifelong learners, be curious in all things, and truly reach for the stars. We prepare them with scenarios that will help them with college or with their career. I want them to know what it's like to truly be a mathematician.
My students deserve to learn in a place they can happily be mathematicians in. These materials will help my students do just that. The manipulatives will allow students who are tactile and visual learners have something tangible to touch or look at. That could better represent what math will look like in real life for them. I want my students to use their creativity and ask as many questions and become mathematicians. We just need the resources to do so. We need organizational tools, and things students could use to help them better understand Geometry and math all together. We also need tools to use our imagination on projects like scissors, glue and Popsicle sticks. This will enhance our classroom space and time to fit our students' needs.
