Blending acrylic paint and mosaic, students will create a mural that will hang at our school as a permanant Art piece. The mural will be created in honor of a ten year old student from our school that lost his life in a car accident this summer. We will create our mural in small sections on 4, 2' x 4' panels of plywood rectangles. All 350+ students at our school will have their hand on the mural/mosaic! Each class as they come to Art class for their 50 minute Art period will work behind the class before them. I am estimating the completion of the project in two weeks. A total of 36, 50 minute periods not including teacher time spent after and before school prepping "canvas" and supplies. Our design will be student guided and will focus on the painted rock designs classmates made in his honor. We will transfer the designs from the rocks by hand with composition guided by myself. We will also include a portrait of the student within the mural.
