The books that I want to have my scholars read will capture their interest first and then their imaginations as they can see themselves in the experiences of the characters who look like them, like Josh Bell a.k.a. Filthy McNasty in the Crossover and Stella in Stella by Starlight. Characters that think like they do and ponder their day to day experiences like they do in hopes of finding out who they are. Isn't that the question that we are all still pondering to some degree? How awesome to find some clues at a younger age about the mysteries of success in life and times in which they live within the setting of a book!
