The best way for students to improve their reading skills is practice them by reading books. I believe that every student can fall in love with reading--it's just a matter of finding the right book for the right student. Every student deserves to be able to pick up a book and find a character that they see themself in. That's why it is essential for students to have access to interesting books that both reflect their experiences and open the door to other worlds. With these books in my classroom library, students will be able to choose from a wide variety of books to discover themselves as readers. We are in a golden age of young adult publishing and I want to have the amazing voices of the authors of color and queer authors that are being published represented in my classroom library.
