Science is best learned by doing science. The doing of science is what often produces curiosity and sparks the inquiry that leads to a more fun and authentic learning experience. For this reason I am always looking for ways to incorporate labs into my curriculum as much as possible. Unfortunately, my classroom has very few classroom lab supplies, which limits the scope and complexity of the labs I can provide the students. Acid-base reactions are uniquely engaging for their color change, and allow students to practice science, math, and problem solving skills, in a fun, and sometimes competitive way. The purchase of these burets will allow my students to perform hands-on labs covering acid-base reactions and add to my repertoire of labs that improve student engagement, learning, and practice of science skills.
